The Orbis Marine Heat Detector uses a single thermistor to monitor the ambient air temperature surrounding the detector. The Orbis Marine range includes twelve different heat detectors, each designed to operate effectively across a wide variety of environmental conditions.
Operation:
Orbis heat detectors feature an open-web casing that allows air to circulate freely over the thermistor. The air temperature is measured every two seconds and recorded by an onboard microprocessor, which compares the readings against preset thresholds to determine whether the fixed alarm temperature has been reached. For rate-of-rise models, the microprocessor applies algorithms to assess how quickly the temperature is increasing.
Static heat detectors activate only when a predetermined temperature is reached. Rate-of-rise detectors also include a fixed upper temperature limit but additionally monitor the speed of temperature increase. This allows a fire to be detected earlier than with a static detector. As a result, rate-of-rise detectors are generally preferred unless rapid temperature changes are a normal part of the protected environment.
Key Features:
Suitable for applications where smoke detectors are not appropriate
Ideal for areas that are normally dirty or smoky
Optional flashing LED indicator
